Private psychological assessments
Initial conversation
No charge
Twenty minutes by telephone, to establish what you are looking for and whether an assessment is the right route.
Diagnostic clarification
£900
For a single, defined question: whether a presentation meets criteria, whether an existing diagnosis holds, or whether something else accounts for it better.
One interview, targeted measures, four- to five-page summary, feedback by telephone. Four clinical hours.
Comprehensive assessment
£1,600
For an unclear or overlapping clinical picture, or where a formulation is needed to clarify the presentation and inform the next steps.
Two interviews, a full psychometric battery, a feedback meeting, and a ten– to fourteen-page report. Eight to nine clinical hours.
Extended assessment
£2,400
For a long history or a complex or contradictory record, where previous diagnoses conflict.
As above, with the addition of collateral history, review of prior records, and an informant interview. Twelve to fourteen clinical hours.
Further session
£240
Charged at the standard consultation rate.
Letter to a GP, school, university or employer
£240
An additional letter to a third party, beyond the report already included with your assessment.
An assessment may conclude that diagnostic criteria are not met. The purpose is clarity, not confirmation of a particular diagnosis.
Overall package fees are based on the estimated clinical time required for each assessment. Fees are itemised accordingly: clinical contact is charged at £240 per hour and report preparation at £160 per hour.
Clinical interviews and psychometric testing are conducted in person at the clinic, allowing for a more thorough assessment and ensuring that standardised measures are administered under appropriate conditions.

ESTIMATES
A written estimate of hours is provided before any work begins, and no invoice will exceed that estimate without your prior agreement.
PAYMENT
50 per cent is payable on booking, with the balance due on delivery. Medico-legal work is invoiced on completion.
TURNAROUND
Assessment reports are issued within three to four weeks of the final session. Medico-legal reports are issued within six to eight weeks of receipt of all documentation.
CANCELLATION
Appointments cancelled more than 48 hours in advance are not charged. Within 48 hours, the full fee applies, as the time has been reserved for you and cannot usually be reallocated.
Court attendance is treated separately: a listed hearing cancelled within seven days is charged at 50 per cent. Where the hearing is vacated by the court and a new date is fixed, the cancellation charge is credited towards the fee for the new hearing.
VAT
No VAT is chargeable on these fees.
REVIEW
Fees are reviewed each January. A rate agreed at the point of instruction is fixed for the duration of that case.
